What's new in the world of grain inspection?

Change in Cu-Sum Loading of Unit Trains

Effective June 12, 2000, the USDA has made a change that increases the maximum size of the sublots used when loading cu-sum unit trains from 5 cars to 10 cars. This revision applies to any unit train of 50 cars or more.

Grain Inspection Handbook III, Inspection Procedures, Chapter 2, Inspection of Shiplots, Unit Trains and Lash Barges will be revised to accommodate this change in procedure.

The Federal Grain Inspection Service modified the handbook after members of the grain trade loading 110 car unit trains requested the adjustment.
